There are so many people who haven’t had the chance to properly practice their English since their school years. Now they need it for work, small talk or a test. This is where I come in. I am an American English native speaker who moved to Germany over ten years ago and have been training people in English ever since. It is a great passion of mine to explain English in a way that you can understand, remember and use it yourself.   

I individualize my one-on-one sessions to target your specific needs and weaknesses, while keeping the atmosphere light and fun. After all, we are no longer in school and we don’t have to learn English in a dry and theoretical way. I know that you have other responsibilities and the last thing you want is for learning English to be a burden. Let me help you prioritize what you learn in an efficient way, so that you can maximize the effort you put in and apply what you have learned in your daily life. I will assist you by correcting your English accurately – whether it is pronunciation, vocabulary or grammar – so that you can start making improvements immediately. 

Others would describe me as highly motivated, patient and pleasant. I will not stop until you understand something and will continue to try to explain it to you in various ways. I love everything in English from a good conversation to intense discussions about the finer linguistic details. The key to being patient is understanding. Due to my unique experience moving to Germany, I know too what it is like to not be able to express yourself in the way you would like to in a foreign language. Learning German fluently put me through a similar experience you are going through in English. I understand that sometimes, you just need to resort to your mother tongue to say something. If you know German, I can explain the differences between English and German and allow you to express yourself in German if you must. Even if you have a different native language, this sensitivity and awareness of languages is something that not all native English speakers have.

Language also runs in the family as an area of expertise. I have a father who is an English language and intercultural business communication professor as well as a professional translator as a mother – who taught me that words and their meanings cannot always be translated literally. While I learned a lot from them, my own hands-on experience with languages and trainees has taught me what I know today. Moreover, I am certified to train others for the TOEFL iBT® Test, one of the major English proficiency tests.
